National Gingerbread Day

National Gingerbread Day is celebrated annually on 5th June. It is a day dedicated to the enjoyment and appreciation of gingerbread in all its forms, from gingerbread cookies to gingerbread houses. This delightful treat, known for its warm spices and festive flavours, has a long history and is loved by many around the world.

Things a Manager Can Do to Promote This Day at Work

Gingerbread Baking Contest: Host a gingerbread baking contest where employees can bring in their homemade gingerbread creations. Categories can include best-tasting gingerbread, most creative design, and best-decorated gingerbread house. Offer small prizes for the winners and encourage everyone to participate and share their recipes.

Gingerbread Decorating Station: Set up a gingerbread decorating station with pre-baked gingerbread cookies and an assortment of decorations such as icing, sprinkles, and candies. Provide decorating tools and create a fun, festive atmosphere where staff can enjoy a creative break and decorate their own gingerbread.

Gingerbread-Themed Snacks: Provide a variety of gingerbread-themed snacks for employees to enjoy throughout the day. This could include gingerbread cookies, gingerbread cake, and gingerbread lattes. Set up a snack station in the break room where staff can help themselves to these tasty treats.

Team Building Activity: Organise a team-building activity centred around gingerbread house building. Provide teams with gingerbread house kits and decorating supplies, and set a time limit for constructing and decorating their houses. This can be a fun and collaborative way for employees to work together and get into the spirit of the day.
